Feds invest another $117M in energy-efficiency program
The Canadian Press
Date: Sunday Jan. 29, 2012 8:48 PM ET
OTTAWA The federal government has announced an additional funding of $117 million over three years for its EcoEnergy Efficiency Initiative.
The program is meant to encourage consumers and companies to cut their energy use.
The new investment is in addition to an initial $78 million announced last September.
Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver says the investment demonstrates the government's continuing commitment to advance clean-energy technologies and make Canada a world leader in energy efficiency.
The minister also announced today that the popular EcoEnergy home-retrofit program had successfully reached its goal of 250,000 registered homeowners.
As planned, the program is no longer accepting new registrations.

Now we should be politically correct in paying homage to these feminists by dropping the "miss" as if that is somehow derogatory?? ..... It amazes me on how trivial the causes are that people will devote their life to. They obviously "Miss" the point to life.

Of course, you can't cancel one of the more successful funding programs, helping Canadian households to undertake energy conservation related investments in their homes, without a outcry/backlash. They bring it back for 2011/2012 but this time with a cap. I'm pretty sure I saw the fine print somewhere on the website, of course they CONS aren't going to advertise the cap. I think most of us believe that success should be encouraged and not restricted...
But who knows... maybe it will come back 2012/13 or 13/14... hopefully with more $$$ - but I'm not holding my breath.
