OTTAWA — Employment Insurance cheques are in the mail -- or will be once again by Thursday.

The federal government says EI cheques that were issued between June 10-22, when postal workers were locked out, will be put in the mail after close of business on Wednesday.

Until then, those who receive their jobless benefits by mail can pick up their cheques in person at Service Canada Centres or alternate distribution centres.

Recipients can find out where and how to pick up their cheques by clicking on "locate your EI cheque" at www.servicecanada.gc.ca.

Cheques printed after June 22 will be mailed as usual.

The government is encouraging Canadians to sign up for direct deposit service to avoid future disruptions in receiving their benefits.
