VICTORIA — Police in Victoria say they've arrested a woman after a man's date with an escort he found on Craigslist ended in robbery and extortion.

A news release says a 26-year-old man in Victoria arranged "early-morning rendezvous" with an escort agency he found on the popular classifieds website.

He woke up to find his computer missing, and then received text messages demanding $2,000 cash for the return of his computer.

The man then contacted police, who told him to continue sending text messages and arrange a meeting under the surveillance of officers.

Police arrested a 28-year-old woman who showed up to meet the man at a gas station in Victoria on Tuesday evening.

The woman faces charges of extortion and possession of stolen property.
