I agree with Ryan. I could certainly use millions of dollars, from the Ontario government, for doing nothing. Will McGuinty ever start considering the taxpayer? No, I guess not, ..... he's Liberal afterall!

Basing my entire opinion on the CTV News exclusive and hoping their facts are correct, Yes I do agree with this. I'm sure the vast majority of Canadian citizens have their own form of insurance and I think the Government should also have some sort of an insurance when it comes to electricity. As M. Coulson stated, Ontarians would have been screaming mad if somehow we did go beyond the capabilities of the current system and didn't have anyone else to rely on.
I do believe; however, that there really should be a cap to the amount given to Bruce Power.

Is this why the Liberals wanted HST? They knew they would need extra money and this was a quick and easy way to get it.

OMG, it just doesn't cease to amaze me how stupid and incompetent this McGuinty Liberal bunch is. Typical Liberal --- just no end to tax dollars for them to SPEND, SPEND, SPEND! Looking forward to next election when McGuinty and his crew will be GONE, GONE, GONE!

Will there be anything left of Ontario when McGuinty is finished? There is no end to stupidity with this Government, and we the tax payers have to foot the bill for it. Such a shame, this has to end soon, I hope.

Ontario's Hydro Electric Power has become one helluva political football with many trying to suck at the trough.

The Ontario government has the ability to produce a lot or power to the province and at very reasonable rates but this politcal football keeps getting kicked around. Wait until we the consumer has to pay Samsung for it's wind generated power which again the Ontario Government could have done on it's own.

We Ontarians are not stupid, we have the knowledge and the technicians.

So, if in it's infinite wisdom these idiots buy power from a private source like Bruce Power, YES, they have top pay for it, nothing is free and that means YOU and I pay for it.

I'm waiting for our stupid government to sell off the rest of Ontario as well.

I fully agree with the payment to Bruce. If something had happened that units had gone down at one of the plants we would have had to call on Bruce to get online. I am sure with the very hot summer we had many people would have been screaming if there had been blackouts or brownouts - no air conditioning.

The requirement to have this "stand by" supplier is also necessary for commercial purposes.

Do not blame Bruce Power for this - it was an excellent business decision on their part and a small price to pay to know that we will have the power if it is needed. The blame for this lies clearly with the incompetent Liberal government and OPA. Perhaps Paul Bliss should do an investigation into why we pay almost triple the price for power from the wind turbines that surround the Bruce, rather than use the power that the Bruce is generating.

I wish I could get a boat-load of money from the Ontario Government for doing nothing. This is nothing more than welfare to largest scale.

To avoid the payments Ontario simply buys power from Bruce first and shut down other plants like the pollution spewing Nanticoke.

Why should we be paying for something that wasn't needed. My one concern is this the same for the winter months since we don't use as much hydro for the winter.
We should be refunded for the months that the nuclear plant was down for many months that produces the isotopes for certain tests that needed to be preformed.

Worst premiere and government in the history of Ontario and definately in my lifetime. Period.

Liberal socialism doesn't work and this latest debacle with the power company just continues to show why.
