TORONTO — "Score: A Hockey Musical" opened the Toronto International Film Festival last night.

Olivia Newton-John joined the rest of the film's stars on the red carpet, along with some famous faces from hockey.

Former NHL great Theo Fleury and Walter Gretzky -- the Great One's dad -- were there.

Both have cameos in the film about a home-schooled hockey phenom who breaks into song at the drop of a puck.

Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean attended the premier and called the film the perfect combination of two favourite Canadian pastimes -- hockey and rock and roll.

The film's star, Noah Reid, says he really enjoyed the film's unexpected mix of sports and music.

Reid plays Farley, a sheltered teen who becomes an instant hockey star when a local team owner discovers him skating circles around the neighbourhood rink rats.

Score is set to open across Canada in October.

The Toronto International Film Festival runs through September 19th.
