An apparent attempt by a group of senior RCMP officers to push Commissioner William Elliott from his job has been unsuccessful, according to a Saturday newspaper report.
In late July, reports emerged that a group of senior Mounties had made formal complaints about Elliott, which centred around his management style and behaviour on the job.
Those complaints prompted the federal government to have former CSIS chief Reid Morden complete an independent workplace assessment of the Mounties.
Reports emerged two weeks ago that Morden had handed in his assessment.
The Globe and Mail reported Saturday that the Conservative government has since reviewed complaints brought forward about Elliott and elected to keep him in his current position.
Elliott has served as RCMP commissioner for just over three years.
He is the first civilian commissioner in the history of the national police force.
