OTTAWA Today is the last day of an inquiry into former prime minister Brian Mulroney's financial dealings with businessman Karlheinz Schreiber.
But Schreiber, who was allowed to stay in Canada during the inquiry, says he isn't expecting to be extradited to his native Germany any time soon.
Schreiber says there are still matters before the courts that must be dealt with before he can be removed from Canada.
Schreiber has been fighting his extradition to Germany -- where he faces charges of fraud, bribery, corruption and tax evasion -- for a decade.
Although the factual inquiry has ended, Justice Jeffrey Oliphant is hearing today from the head of the ethics team at Britain's cabinet office, as well as Canada's ethics commissioner, Mary Dawson.
Oliphant has until Dec. 31 to deliver his report.
