The following is a list of major figures in the Royal Family and famous quotes from the Queen.

Who's who in the Queen's immediate family

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, 84: Married Elizabeth in 1947, accompanies her on all her overseas state visits. Born into Greek royalty, the former Philip Mountbatten is an ex-naval officer, polo player and avid sportsman.

Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, 57: The Queen's eldest son and heir to the throne, married to Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. Previously divorced first wife Diana, killed in a car crash in 1997. An architecture and organic farming enthusiast, active in promoting jobs for young people.

Princess Anne, 55: Her title is the Princess Royal and, like her mother, she is a keen horsewoman. She competed for the British equestrian team in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. In 1992, she divorced her husband of 18 years, Capt. Mark Phillips, and married Rear Adm. Timothy Laurence. She has two children by Phillips.

Prince Andrew, 46: Became Duke of York when he married Sarah Ferguson in 1986. They divorced in 1996, and have two children. A longtime naval officer, he now promotes trade with and investment in Britain.

Prince Edward, 42: Became the Earl of Wessex when he married former public relations executive Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. They have a daughter.

Prince William, 23: The oldest son of Charles and Diana graduated from St. Andrews University last year and is a cadet at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. Dating Kate Middleton.

Prince Harry, 21: William's younger brother recently graduated from Sandhurst as an army officer and has joined the Household Cavalry, an elite military unit. Thought a bit wilder than William, he made headlines for dressing as a Nazi at a costume party, and for allegedly visiting a strip club.

Quotes from the Queen

"I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong." - A speech to her future subjects on her 21st birthday, April 1947.

"I cannot lead you into battle, I do not give you laws or administer justice but I can do something else, I can give you my heart and my devotion to these old islands and to all the peoples of our brotherhood of nations." - From the queen's first televised Christmas address, 1957.

"1992 is not a year on which I shall look back with undiluted pleasure. In the words of one of my more sympathetic correspondents, it has turned out to be an 'Annus Horribilis'." - London, November 1992, after her children's marital troubles and a fire at Windsor Castle.

"No one who knew Diana will ever forget her. Millions of others who never met her, but felt they knew her, will remember her. I for one believe there are lessons to be drawn from her life and from the extraordinary and moving reaction to her death. I share in your determination to cherish her memory." - TV broadcast September 1997, after Diana's death.

"Grief is the price we pay for love." - After the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.

"Have you been playing a long time?" - To guitar legend Eric Clapton, at a Buckingham Palace reception, March 2005
