Mexican authorities are now seeking four hotel employees in their investigation of a slain Canadian couple, according to unconfirmed media reports from Mexico.

If the reports are true, the news represents an about-face for the Mexican investigators who had earlier ruled out the possibility that the couple was killed by hotel workers.

According to reported leaks from the attorney general's office, Mexican police are now seeking two security guards and two cleaners who disappeared from the resort after the bodies were found on Feb. 20.

Dominic and Nancy Ianiero, of Woodbridge, Ont. were in Mexico for the wedding of one of their daughters when they were killed at the five-star Barcelo Maya Beach Resort near Cancun.

More than seven hundred mourners attended the private funeral service Monday in Woodbridge, north of Toronto, for the couple. Police photographed license plates of the vehicles of many of those who attended.

Meanwhile, two veteran RCMP investigators have arrived in Mexico to help with the investigation.

The Canadian investigators left for Mexico earlier in the week, and are now working alongside the Mexican police who are leading the investigation.

The RCMP has not released the names of the officers who were sent over, but said both are experts in major crime scene analysis, and have more than 25 years experience.

Prior to their arrival, an RCMP liaison officer was the only Canadian representative as the investigation unfolded.

The decision to send the RCMP officers followed on an invitation last Friday from Mexican foreign secretary Ernesto Derbez Bautista for Canadian authorities to take part in the investigation.

Controversy has surrounded the investigation. Mexican police initially pinned the blame on two Thunder Bay women who were staying on the same floor of the same hotel. The women quickly reported to Thunder Bay police, and were soon cleared of suspicion.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
