This year's Junos will definitely get started on the right foot with The Black Eyed Peas announcing they are scheduled to play at next month's awards show in Halifax.

The American hip-hop group from Los Angeles is known for their funky sound, positive message and amazing break dancing skills.

This is not their first major Canadian gig. Last year, the Grammy-winning group rocked the Grey Cup's sell-out crowd at B.C. Place in Vancouver. Their half-time show, which put 59,157 fans to their feet, included the popular tunes Don't Phunk With My Heart, Pump It and Let's Get It Started.

Not only are The Black Eyed Peas scheduled to play the Junos, they are also up for a coveted Juno award in the category of best international album.

Their last album, Monkey Business, was released on June 7, 2005 and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and sold over 295,000 albums in its first week. Since then it has gone triple platinum.

The album's first single, Don't Phunk with My Heart, won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group.

The Black Eyed Peas date all the way back to 1989 when two of their members, will.i.am and apl.de.ap, first started rapping and performing in grade eight. Since then the L.A. duo became a quartet with the addition of Taboo and Fergie.

Vancouver rockers Hedley have also been added to the list of performers.

The quartet, nominated for New Group of the Year, are led by Canadian Idol finalist Jacob Hoggard.

The group has sold more than 100,000 copies of their self-titled album since it was released just six months ago, certifying it platinum in Canada.

Their first single On My Own, reached Number 1 on the MuchMusic Top 30 Chart, while their current single, Trip, is in the Top 5.

The Junos coincides with the end of their 29-date headlining cross-country tour. Hedley recently completed a sold-out Canadian tour with Simple Plan.

Other performers at the Junos include international superstars Coldplay and homegrown talents Nickelback, Bryan Adams, Michael Buble, Bedouin Soundclash and Broken Social Scene.

The 2006 Juno Awards will be broadcast on CTV on Sunday, April 2, from the Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Pamela Anderson will host.
