One of Canada's most legendary news anchors, Newman has been a familiar face to viewers in Canada and the U.S. for more than 30 years. Following his brief sabbatical from the news business, Newman marks his return to the national airwaves as Bell Media's Digital News Evangelist, and Co-Host of CTV's Question Period.

Newman joins longtime Co-Host Craig Oliver, Chief Political Correspondent for CTV, interviewing Canadian newsmakers and members of government on Canada's landmark political program – CTV's Question Period every Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. Newman's career has taken him to every major hotspot across the globe, and through every community, territory and province in Canada. As Co-Host of CTV's Question Period, Newman will have a weekly opportunity to combine his unique political intelligence from relationships developed over three decades with his passion for politics, honed during his tenure as Parliamentary Correspondent for all three major Canadian national networks.

Newman has covered every Prime Minister from Trudeau to Harper, and has solid relations with many of the country's top political aides and bureaucrats who have participated in government and opposition.

In his dual role as CTV's Digital News Evangelist, Newman will help shape the digital future of CTV News and will work with the Bell Media team to build the digital brand for CTV News as well as offer insight into the digital media strategy for other Bell Media properties. The new role is a natural next step for the social media enthusiast, whose departure from traditional media in 2010 was borne of a desire to explore the emerging digital content field. In short order, Newman aligned himself with some of the most innovative and creative partners in Canada, earning the respect of some of the country's leading technology pioneers, and was cited as ‘the traditional journalist in Canada who is doing more to build the next generation of journalism than anyone,' by Yahoo co-founder and OpenText Chief strategist Tom Jenkins at the 2011 RTNDA journalism conference.

Newman first cut his teeth in the digital news world by leading the creation of the first Pod and Vodcasts of Global National newscasts with an eye toward expanding the brand to younger viewers, winning the recognition of multiple leading national publications for creating the first new successful news product in a generation in Canada.

In 2001, Newman was lured back to Canada to join Global Television, leading the creative, staffing and editorial design of the national news which he anchored for 10 years. Newman's return to the Canadian broadcaster followed his seven years as an anchor and correspondent at ABC News in New York. During that time, Newman hosted and reported for Nightline, World News Tonight, and Good Morning America.

Kevin Newman was born in Toronto, ON, and started his broadcasting career at CHRW radio in London, ON, becoming the first news director of the Western Mustangs football broadcasts for the University of Western Ontario's radio station, where he was a student. After graduating, he landed his first job as a reporter for Global Ontario in 1981. In 1986, he moved to CTV as the network's parliamentary correspondent, and in 1988 he joined CBC Television's Midday as a reporter and anchor, from 1992 to 1994.
