The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced a list of 115 vehicles earning top safety awards.

Getting the safety designation means a vehicle has performed well in all of the institutes's tests, including front, side, rollover and rear-crash tests.

The institute, which is based in the U.S., rates crash results on a scale of good, acceptable, marginal and poor.

A total of 69 cars, 38 SUVs, five minivans and three pickups earned the top safety awards from the institute.
