NEW YORK — Stephen Hawking's first major new work in nearly a decade is due out in September.

Bantam Dell said Monday that "The Grand Design" will be published Sept. 7. Hawking is writing it with fellow physicist Leonard Mlodinow.

The publisher says they'll examine evidence of "a unified theory" that can "describe and explain all the forces of nature."

Hawking, of Britain, is renowned for his work on black holes. Mlodinow teaches at California Institute of Technology.
