FREDERICTON — New Brunswick's Opposition leader says he would make job creation and economic development his top priorities if elected next month.

On the opening day of the province's election campaign, Conservative Leader David Alward used the Mactaquac hydroelectric dam as the backdrop for the launch of his quest to become premier.

Alward said today was a day of change and the first day of the final chapter of what he described as the worst government in New Brunswick's recent history.

Alward's biggest promise so far is a freeze on power rates until March 2013.

Liberal Premier Shawn Graham will launch his campaign later today.

The election is set for Sept. 27.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
