Date: Tuesday Sep. 15, 2009 10:25 AM ET
Jill Macyshon is the CTV National News reporter in Winnipeg.
For a decade she has reported on stories in Manitoba and across Western Canada.
Macyshon covered the Red River flood in 2009. CTV News was one of the first teams to report on the frantic efforts to hold back the rising water in Fargo, North Dakota. Macyshon followed the story through the Red River Valley back to Winnipeg and north of the city as the flood fight continued.
Home base is Winnipeg, but Macyshon also covers stories for CTV National News in Saskatchewan.
She followed an amber alert to a small town where a known pedophile had kidnapped two boys.
And she reported on a week long manhunt for a killer involved in the shooting deaths of two RCMP officers near Spiritwood Saskatchewan.
Macyshon has traveled to dozens of First Nations communities across Canada. She's reported on skyrocketing suicide statistics, health concerns and poverty among Canada's aboriginal people. She was in the Northern Ontario community of Kashechewan when it was evacuated because of contaminated water.
Macyshon worked as a reporter for CTV local news in Winnipeg for five years before making the leap into National News.
She holds an arts degree from University of Manitoba and a diploma from Red River College where she majored in journalism.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
