Police released new images of a dark-coloured vehicle Monday which was spotted close to where Victoria Stafford went missing last month -- among the first new bits of evidence in the case released in weeks.

The make and the model of the station wagon haven't been identified yet, but police hope the images will spur additional witnesses to come forward.

"The driver of the vehicle is believed to potentially be a valuable witness to this incident and the Police would like to speak with this person," police said in a release on Monday afternoon.

According to surveillance images, the vehicle was seen driving on the same street where Victoria and her alleged captor were also spotted.

Release of the images had been delayed as police attempted to improve their grainy quality.

The eight-year-old girl was last seen walking away from her elementary school on April 8 with an unidentified woman.

Investigators describe the woman as being 19 to 25 years old, at least 5'1" tall and weighing about 125 pounds. She is believed to wear her long dark hair in a ponytail.

Officers in Victoria's hometown of Woodstock continue to canvas door-to-door in search of clues about the girl's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police scoured a landfill site east of the town of Salford.

Officers are also asking local farmers tending their fields to be "extra vigilant" to look for anything unusual or suspicious.

let's go back to the video showing that mysterious women wth Tori, there is a man parked at the fence while the two are walking by and if you let the video go alittle longer you see a man walking behind a little ways and he is walking pretty fast and he's watching behind him. Now i would be interested to know who these men are. Don't tell me the investigators didn't see that on the video.

Car is definitely a mid 90`s plus saturn wagon. Why are the police having such a hard time with that? I don`t buy it.

i can't believe that there is actual footage of this girl when she disappeared and it doesn't help with finding her at all?? if it was my child i would be demanding a lot more from police.

I thought it might be a Ford Taurus Wagon...

I think it looks like a ford, almost looks like the ford symbol in the front.

It could be a 1997-1999 ford escort wagon. The rear side window and head lights on the video in the news makes it look a little more like the escort.

I'm a bit surprised they can't determine the make/model and year of this vehicle. Call anyone at World of Wheels magazine or visit some car dealerships and they'd probably have a definative answer in a short period of time.

Why did it take them so long to put this out there? I hope she is ok, I hope this helps get more leads, but I am ashamed that the investigators in the case didn't bring this out sooner!

Agree on the Saturn Wagon ID.

Geez, on CSI if they had this picture they could zoom in, get the license number, make and model of the car and lift fingerprints off the door handle. You mean to say that isn't real?

are you kidding me??? How many other vehicles were also driving around, and they pull THIS one. This is absolutely ridiculous! I really hope this little girl is ok, and still alive and well.

Time is definitely the enemy in this case. If it was a kidnapping for money, there would be demands by now.

Hope for some good news soon.
