OTTAWA — Health Canada has ordered shops to stop selling some Asian sex aids, but authorities appear to have stopped short of imposing penalties on sellers.

Health Canada issued an advisory today informing the public it has added three products to its banned list: Yanshiwang, Jin Kong Fu and Chong Cao She Bian Zhuang Yang Dan.

The department says the items have been ordered off the shelves at Male and Female Harmony retail stores in Richmond and Burnaby, B.C., along with the Happy Paradise Adult Store in Burnaby.

Health Canada tested the products and found they contain undeclared prescription medication.

The China Commodity Net website says Chong Cao She Bian Zhuang Yang Dan is used to treat impotence and contains black-tail snake, ginseng and antler, among a host of other products.

The Hong Kong Best International Trade Co. says Yanshiwang is a remedy for a host of other sex-related complaints.

The company says it also aids in the pursuit of quality of life, the aspiration to "complete oneself," and extends the time of sexual life.

Jin Kong Fu is a similar product.

Says Health Canada:"We would like to remind Canadians that prescription medication should only be used under the supervision of a health care practitioner."

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
