Amy Winehouse's European tour is off to a disastrous start, with the British singer cancelling two appearances after she was booed in Serbia for mumbling her way through songs.

Winehouse, whose career has been derailed by ongoing drug and alcohol abuse, is hoping for a comeback.

But late Saturday, the 27-year-old pop star arrived one hour late to a show in Belgrade. The disappointment continued as she mumbled lyrics, dropped her microphone and stumbled across the stage. She even disappeared at times, leaving the band to play alone.

Winehouse's erratic behaviour left many of the 20,000 concert-goers feeling disappointed, especially in light of the 38-euro ticket price in a country where the average monthly wage is just 300 euros.

"It was horrible," Ivana Bilic told The Associated Press. "She should have cancelled the whole thing, rather than appear at all like this."

On Sunday, a spokesperson for Winehouse said she had cancelled two upcoming shows: a concert in Istanbul scheduled for Monday and a show in Athens set for Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Winehouse reportedly completed an alcohol rehabilitation program at the Priory clinic in south-west London. She then gave a much-praised secret performance in the city.

The singer won five Grammys for her 2006 album Back to Black..

Too bad. Awesome talent, all the potential in the world... I thought her music was the best thing since Nina Simone. All in the toilet now because of addiction. Shame.

A beautiful talent gone to waste. But she is not completely worthless . . . she can always serve as a bad example.

With all the bad publicity she has had in recent years in North American alone, why would anyone want to hear and see her perform? For those who purchased tickets to see her show... too Bad. You got what you pay for.

I don't know who she thinks she is, but it cerainly is NOT an entertainer. I don't want to get too personal but she looks like death warmed over, Who would pay good money to go and see that?

Why would anyone pay to see a booze and drug addicted "celebrity". How could she perform being under the influence, as the story reported she was an hour late and stumbled around the stage dropping her microphone. The promoters of the concert should return the money to all who bought tickets. I boycott celebs who live this lifestyle including T.V. shows which are free. Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and others do not get one second of my time stop supporting these people and they will fade into oblivion.

She should have stayed in rehab. It's very obvious sha hasn't got it together. She should do the music world a favor and crawl back under the rock and sober up and leave the drugs alone. Does she not realize she makes an ass of herself everytime she opens her mouth? It's a pity people waste their money on her so called shows.

Is she still around? How exciting! Now the media can focus on her downfall (again) for us all to soak up. Better get Ben Mulroney onto this earth shattering story.

As long as people pay, she'll continue. Stop buying her records, going to her concerts, and pandering to her addictions.

She is not a performer worth spending any kind of money over. Get your act together. Disgraceful.

Who would pay that much to see Winehouse? She is horrible. The fans deserved what they got!

What a waste of oxygen. Why would anyone want to pay to see a drunk "perform"? I would demand my money back. She's a complete embarrassment to herself, the band, and her manager.

The report says the concert goers paid 38 euros per ticket in a place where the monthly income is around 300. Folks not quite sure who was on the bender that night..Winehouse or the concert goers who paid to see her. You get what you pay for folks.

Alcohol destroys more families & lives than all of the natural disasters. I battled alcohol addiction for 30 years, I tried all of the illegal drugs alcohol was the only drug that turned me into a low life scumbag & destroyed my life. When will people learn that pot is by far a much safer drug. CTV recently ran an article the study proved alcohol to be more harmful than heroin or cocaine.

Just an observation

I do not think she went to any treatment facility, looks like she is still on the bender, actually feel sorry for her as she is destroying a great career and hurting her health in the process!!
