TORONTO — A new Canadian reality show aims to transform average Canadians into Broadway musical performers.

"Broadway Bootcamp" follows 18 people with no theatrical experience as they are thrown into a musical "bootcamp."

Bravo! says it has ordered 13 episodes of the one-hour documentary series.

In each episode, director Sarina Condello pushes novice performers to dance, sing, and act their hearts out for eight weeks.

Then, they'll have to perform a Broadway musical in front of a live audience.

The new reality show comes as sister station CTV prepares to introduce its mid-season Broadway-themed drama "Smash," starring Debra Messing.
