Although I am a fan of Fishburnes I never thought he was a good replacement for Peterson's character. I tried to watch the show but I couldn't get into it and stopped watching altogether.

LOS ANGELES — Laurence Fishburne is closing the file on his "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" career.

The actor won't be back on the crime drama this fall, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the announcement has not been officially announced.

Fishburne joined the "CSI" cast as Dr. Raymond Langston midway through the 2008-09 season. He stepped in to replace departing star William Petersen.

The person says the show's producers are taking Fishburne's departure in stride, aware that his movie career made a long TV tenure unlikely.

"CSI" returns for its 12th season this fall and continues to rank among the 20 top-rated shows.

Fishburne's credits include "The Matrix" films, and he's in the upcoming "Contagion" with Matt Damon.

I am not surprised to see him leave after only a short time. I am still a bigger fan of Grissom's but I doubt they will bring him back. What does this mean for the future of the show? Not sure, but I'll be tuning in this fall to find out.

Laurence is a good actor but this isn't his niche. Need Grisholm back he was a perfect fit!

Although Fishbourne will be missed, there are a slew of good actors to choose from to replace him. Pick anyone from the now defunct "Third Watch" or "The Unit". Loved those shows.

It's to bad that he leaving such a good show. I liked him way better than I liked William Petersen.

I watched a few episodes of this. He didn't seem to fit in for some reason, or his character did not fit the actor. The character's in 'Criminal Minds' are much better in my opinion . And yes, I love him in movies too.

L.F. is far too good an actor to stay in this T.V. tripe any longer. His ability to act in "real movies" is a far greater benefit to all.
