TORONTO — Films about a cat in Paris and a clever forest mouse are the audience favourites at the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children and Youth.

Audiences crowned the French film, "A Cat in Paris," best feature and declared "The Gruffalo" from the U.K. the best short film.

"The Gruffalo" also nabbed a jury award for best short, while two other young juries handed feature prizes to the U.S. film, "Snowmen," about a 10-year-old boy stricken with cancer, and Germany's detective adventure, "The Crocodiles Strike Back."

The student choice award, voted on by high school students, went to the U.S. bullying documentary, "Finding Kind."

The annual festival targets children aged 3 through 18.

It showcased more than 100 films from 28 countries April 5 to 17.
