BANFF, Alta. — Actor, comedian and game show host Howie Mandel is getting an achievement award from the Banff World Television Festival.

The Toronto-born funnyman will be presented with the award of distinction at a ceremony during the annual gathering of TV writers, producers, broadcasters and stars.

The award recognizes a Canadian whose body of work has set the standard for excellence in Canada's entertainment industry.

Organizers say Mandel will be recognized for an impressive career that spans virtually all aspects of show business.

Previous recipients include Eric McCormack, Kim Cattrall, Paul Gross, Colm Feore and Paul Haggis.

Next year's Banff World Television Festival runs June 12-15.
