TORONTO Canadian actor Christopher Plummer will start the new year reprising his Tony Award-winning role in the play "Barrymore" in Toronto.
Producers say the show will run for 30 performances at the Elgin Theatre from Jan. 27 to March 9, 2011.
It will feature the entire original creative team, including three-time Tony-winning director Gene Saks.
The 80-year-old Plummer, a recent Oscar nominee who has two Tony Awards and two Emmys, first played the late actor John Barrymore at Ontario's Stratford Shakespeare Festival in September 1996.
The William Luce play -- which is set in the final year of Barrymore's life -- then toured several U.S. cities and opened on Broadway in March 1997.
Plummer has been at the Stratford festival in southwestern Ontario all summer with a starring role as Prospero in "The Tempest," which closes Sept. 13.
He also stars alongside Ewan McGregor in the new film "Beginners," which will screen at this month's Toronto International Film Festival.
