I was there that night! If I'd have seen that sign, I would have likely chuckled too. A bit of humour, Mr. Mandel! Lighten up... a funny accident.

EDMONTON — An off-colour tweet by Lady Gaga during her recent tour stop in Edmonton has ruffled a few feathers in the oil city.

The megastar has posted a picture of the massive "This is Oil Country" sign that runs along the catwalk in the upper levels of the Rexall arena.

The problem was, the "o" in country had been removed to set up a light for the show, making the saying more than a little blue.

The singer added the comment "Holy mother of laughter" to her tweet.

Edmonton's mayor wasn't laughing.

Stephen Mandel told a local TV station he thought the joke was in poor taste and reflects more on the artist and her crew than it does the city.

Gaga recently claimed the title of being the most followed person on Twitter, with more than 5.7 million people hanging on her every random thought -- or photo.

HILARIOUS! GaGa is so cool for tweeting about it! Mr. Mandel, GaGa brought BIG BUCKS into Edmonton and the 5 million people who follow her on FaceBook and Twitter just saw Edmonton and may even want to make a trip there one day. Your comments are discouraging anyone from wanting to visit "Oil C_UNTRY! Get over yourself Mr. Mayor!

I was at the Thursday concert and saw the sign, not offensive at all. The issue is that whoever set up the concert at Rexall didn't notice and rectify it then. Being from Edmonton, I find that most people here are far to defensive about the city. Maybe they are too used to having celebs bad mouth it. Deal with it...it is funny.

So what? McLean & McLean put out a comedy album in the 1970's called 'Taking the 'o' out of country'. They were a lot more raunchy and off-colour than Lady Gaga will ever be.
