NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A U.S. federal judge has ordered a Connecticut talent agent to pay nearly $1.2 million to a concert promoter for failing to produce Justin Timberlake for a concert in the Philippines.

In a lawsuit in Bridgeport, Arnold Vegafria, president of ALV Events International, contends he paid Kofi Degraft Johnson to showcase Timberlake at a concert in 2008. But the singer never appeared.

Vegafria says he learned Johnson had no authority to schedule concerts for Timberlake. Vegafria's lawyer, Russell Green, says his client ended up with a lot of disappointed people.

A telephone message was left Wednesday for Johnson, who was not charged criminally. The judge says he never responded to the lawsuit.
