Ottawa Senators centre Chris Kelly says the wedding between his teammate and country superstar Carrie Underwood was "all about them."

"It was a good family thing with lots of friends, I think the way a wedding should be. It was good," Kelly told reporters in Ottawa on Tuesday.

Mike Fisher married Underwood on July 10 at the Ritz Carleton at Reynolds Plantation, a posh Georgia resort near Atlanta.

The wedding, which Underwood's wedding planner has described as "very elegant, very girlie", was featured in last week's issue of People Magazine, which sold out at many Ottawa locations.

Two-hundred-and-fifty guests attended the wedding. However, Kelly said the most impressive personalities were Fisher and Underwood themselves: "It was their day," he said.

The couple met at one of Underwood's concerts in 2008. They got engaged five days before Christmas.
