Be careful Miley, wouldn't want to see another Britney on our hands. My 9-year-old has already commented on the difference in her and I'm trying to tell her she is getting older and doing her own thing now, shame we have to grow up.

Miley Cyrus says she's not trying to be 'slutty'

Date: Tuesday Jun. 15, 2010 8:40 PM ET

LONDON — Miley Cyrus won't be told what she should wear or what she should sing about.

The 17-year-old is releasing new album, "Can't Be Tamed," and is doing it her way, even though some say she is going to too far for her age.

"I'm not trying to be 'slutty,"' said Cyrus in a recent interview. "I'm not trying to be like, go to the club and get a bunch of guys ... What I'm trying to do is to make a point with my record and look consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way I dress."

What she wears has been put under the spotlight recently. Some thought the video for "Can't Be Tamed" was too provocative, and others have criticized her for revealing too much skin in her outfits.

Cyrus admits to being partial to shorts and hot pants. But she sees nothing wrong with flashing her legs.

"I'm really comfortable with my body, I work really hard to be fit and to know that I can wear whatever makes me most comfortable. I feel more comfortable dressing with a little less, which is just how I've always been," she said.

"Now I'm able to do that a little more freely and, also, I've just grown up to be this way too. It's not like this was me five years ago. It's me now, presently."

Maturing is Cyrus' current mission.

She'll finally shed the blonde wig of her Disney pop star persona, "Hannah Montana," when it ends this year. Then Cyrus will be free to embrace her solo stardom and sex appeal.

"When you're 11, the word you would use to describe someone is definitely not sexy, and as you get older I think you grow into that. And I think I've done that but that's not my schtick. That's not what I'm trying to do to sell records. I want people to buy my record because of my music."

"Can't Be Tamed" is out on Monday.

@Natalie--I wasn't talking about MY children. I have more sense then to let my children idolize someone like that. Thanks for the narrow minded assumption though.

I seen an artistic video. Nothing I have not seen before. Artistic - She is a good looking blessed girl using what she was given. She did not appear to be doing anything wrong. The song does appear generic. But she is 17 years old and probably going through some sort of stage in her life.

Who cares what she wants to do. Everyone thinks that their kids are soooo perfect and that it's the celebrities that are the ones corrupting their minds. Well that's why we have parents. If I wore something when I was in school because a celebrity did and my dad didn't like it he told me to go and change and guess what? I went and changed. Of course I groaned and moaned about it but that's what kids do - We Bi*ch about everything. And Miley is 17 yrs old. She is finding out who she is and what she wants to be like. Can't tell me that it came overnight to all of you parents out there.

@ Not A Fan - maybe the parents of 8-year old children who want to be like Cyrus should encourage them to have rolemodels...who are actually deserving of being a rolemodel. I dont understand why parents sit back and let their children idolize pop stars, because obviously things like this will eventually happen. How bout we see more Canadian parents encourage renowned authors, scholars, and people who have made a real difference in the world (i.e Nelson Mandela) as role models, instead of people like Aguilera and Cyrus. Last I checked, Cyrus wasn't living her life for YOUR daughters. She has every right to do her own thing, so be it if you don't like it.

Does everyone want her to stay a little girl that happens girls/boys grow up to men/woman let them be and they wont loose their minds and go like Britney Spears did .....

Not trying hard enough! She's not even an 'adult' by age. She already has her pre-teen market obsessed with her, for whom she is now a bad example. 8-year-olds want to "show skin", because she does (which is unacceptable). She's probably happy with 20 year old guys ogling her, but if a 50 year old does, she'll be complaining.

If she's not trying to be slutty, then she must just have a gift. It's good to see there is some kind of talent in her.
