CALGARY Some 300 lucky Vulcans were ready to beam to Calgary on Wednesday for a sneak peak at the new Star Trek movie.
They won a lottery in the southern Alberta town that shares a name with the home world of popular Star Trek character Mr. Spock.
The town has built a tourism industry on that fact and had wanted to hold the movie's premiere.
Film company Paramount turned down the request but agreed to the private showing after actor Leonard Nimoy -- the original Spock -- went to bat for the town.
