NEW YORK — A new Oprah book club pick will be announced Wednesday on her television talk show, the same day Winfrey hosts the author of her current selection, Academy Award-winning actor Sidney Poitier.

"Tune in Wednesday, March 28, to see who came to dinner with Sidney Poitier - plus, Oprah's picked a new book for you to read this spring!" reads an e-mail sent Friday to Winfrey book club members.

Poitier's many films include "In the Heat of the Night" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner."

In January, Winfrey chose Poitier's memoir, "The Measure of a Man," ending a year-long hiatus for her club. According to Amazon.com, her pick Wednesday is 304 pages long and was published by Vintage Books, a paperback imprint of Random House, Inc. that has released numerous Winfrey selections, all selling hundreds of thousands of copies.
