MONTREAL Filming has started on the aboriginal TV comedy Moose TV, which will be broadcast on Showcase early in 2007.
The eight half-hour episodes star Adam Beach, who appeared in the Second World War drama Windtalkers and the soon-to-be released Flags of Our Fathers, about the pivotal battle of Iwo Jima and directed by Clint Eastwood.
Beach plays George, who returns to his remote Quebec hometown after years of living in Toronto. He revives the abandoned local television station with a group of well-meaning misfits.
Besides Beach, the all-aboriginal cast features some of Canada's top native actors, including Nathaniel Arcand (Da Vinci's City Hall) and Jennifer Podemski (Degrassi: The Next Generation).
The comedy is the product of Rezolution Films International, an aboriginal-owned film and video production company known for social-issue documentaries.
