MISSION COMPLETED!! Thursday, May 4

Well, we did it! Currently in Los Angeles where last night, we capped off and toasted what has been an incredible globe-trotting adventure with Tom Cruise and his co-stars from Mission: Impossible 3.

Last night we all said goodbye after our two intensive weeks on the road. I'm really gonna miss all the fun I had with the beautiful, funny, and charming ladies Kerri Russell, Maggie Q, and Michelle Monahan. Despite the sleep deprivation, the three of them always looked stunning and were wildly entertaining.

Director JJ Abrams was a hoot. He was clearly having a ball touring the world with his motion picture debut. And last, but not least, I want to thank Tom Cruise for making all this happen and for inviting me back again for another wild adventure. He's a class-act through and through, and his energy and passion kept me and everyone else going in the midst of extreme sleep-deprivation and jet-lag. I don't know how the guy does it, but Tom is such a positive energy source...they should hook him up to the California power grid!!

Last night, Tom made sure the L.A. screening was strictly for the fans and signed autographs for about two hours before introducing new mom Katie to the cameras.

They weren't talking to the media, but Tom made a point of bidding a fond farewell and thanking me for all the hard work and fun times. He laughed saying that we were the only two left standing after the grueling schedule we had, but the thrill of it all was well worth it. My passport sure took a beating, that's for sure. I just want to know if Tom will issue me frequent flyer points!!

Also last night, Will Smith arrived really late and rushed into the screening, but not before stopping to chat on the red carpet. Patrick Swayze also showed up, as did Catherine Bell, Kirstie Alley, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Jenna Elfman.

It was an electric night as everyone tried to get a glimpse of Katie. The paparazzi were going crazy! Tom told me he's going to take some time off for at least the rest of the year. Focus on Suri and the upcoming marriage to Katie, which he said will be sometime later this summer.

Now just as I thought I was getting some time off, I've been asked to fly to Las Vegas to interview Celine Dion. Vegas is not the best city to decompress after no sleep for over two weeks, but no rest for the wicked I guess!!

Mission Accomplished...

Hello from the Big Apple!

After conquering Mexico, Tom turned Zoo York City a little more wild last night as he stormed Manhattan, making an entrance fit for ... well a first-class action hero.

First, he zipped to Wall Street via helicopter, then rode a NYPD firetruck across town, zoomed up the choppy waters of the Hudson in a souped up speedboat all the way to Harlem, and then hopped the D Train in Harlem and rode the subway all the way down to the official red carpet premiere of MI3 at the Ziegfeld Theatre

Now THAT was dangerous!

When Tom exited the subway, he jumped up on the roof of his SUV and waved to the screaming fans. And then it suddenly dawned on me: It's like the world is one big Jungle Gym for Tom Cruise!!

When I was talking with former N.Y. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, I asked him who holds more power - the Mayor of New York City or Tom Cruise? He laughed about it and gave a "safe" answer, but I think he realized that Tom Cruise had just single-handedly shut down the busiest city in the world!!

Also talked with P. Diddy, Philip Seymour Hoffman (who told me he isn't sure where his Oscar is now .... it's been misplaced somewhere in his house), and of course, the rest of the cast from MI3. Said goodbye to Keri Russell, who isn't flying with us to L.A., and was so much fun through this whole trip ... gonna miss that cutie!

Had a funny incident with Stephen Baldwin last night on the carpet. He bet me that I couldn't get James Lipton (the prim and proper host of "The Actors Studio") to sing for me the "Mission Impossible" theme song.

Well I did! Lipton was reluctant at first, but once I got him going, I couldn't stop him!! I guess he's not so stuffy after all ... and hey Baldwin - you owe me $10 bucks!!

Just touched down in Los Angeles and hope to get a couple hours sleep (nobody slept at all last night because of the late night and very, very early morning flight).

Want to be somewhat coherent for tonight's LA red carpet - and the last stop on this incredible MI3 world tour - it should be a blast!!

Buenos Dias ... Sunday, April 30

The "Mission: Impossible III" red carpet last night at El Auditorio Nacional will go down as THE LOUDEST red carpet ever!!

The screaming from the Mexican fans was deafening to say the least.

Tom and I were literally having to shout on the red carpet even though we were only a few inches away!! It got to the point where sensory overload took over and we literally couldn't even think...those Spanish lungs are pretty powerful. And I thought the Italians were loud - Mon Dios!!

I asked Tom what was the first thing he did when he flew back to L.A. for the weekend ... his answer? "I crawled into bed with Katie and Suri" he smiled. "And slept, and slept, and slept."

We're all pretty exhausted from this tour, but Tom's energy gets everybody pumped up. I don't know how the guy does it!! One of Tom's reps said she hoped I would be a calming influence on Tom during our interview, but that would be a mission impossible all on it's own.

Kudos to Cruise for his unabashed enthusiasm and passion for life. You wish more people were like that in this world.

One of the funniest moments of the night was Tom getting pelted with T-shirts from every single direction by overzealous fans trying to get his signature on the tees. We couldn't stop laughing. It was quite the downpour and they practically knocked the sunglasses off his face.

After the premiere last night, I attended a reception at the embassy in honor of the national holiday and then met up with some friends for drinks at the Whiskey Bar at the W Hotel ... had an amazing time here in Mexico!

Am currently writing this while enjoying a fantastic meal at one of Mexico City's finest cantinas called Karisma ... highly recommended for any gringos visiting this town.

Leaving for the airport soon and then it's on to New York for the big premieres tomorrow night.

It's gonna be quite the splash: Tom is arriving via speedboat, helicopter and subway to the various red carpets. The city is gonna go insane tomorrow!!

Also the whole cast will be in attendance at the Ziegfield Theater, so it will be great to catch up with all of them again. Some left after London to go to other cities.

Looks like tomorrow will be one giant IMF Team reunion!! Can't wait.

Adios Amigos ... David

Ola!!!!

Touched down in Mexico City yesterday.

Had a bit of a grilling by Mexican authorities - apparently being in six different countries around the world over the course of a week red flags you as either an international drug runner or a spy.

Being neither, I had to do some major 'splaining in my best Gringo Spanish.

It's the big May 1st long weekend here, so everyone is in full-on fiesta mode.

The anticipation for Tom's arrival in the morning is electric amongst the locals. Tom flew back to L.A. to spend a couple days with Katie and Suri before we embark on the second leg of the "MI3" tour.

I think a couple days rest will do us all a world of good ... well that, and some tequila can't hurt either!

My ace cameraman Donovan McNiven and I are heading out tonight to see what kinda trouble we can get into.

No shortage here in Mexico City. A good friend of mine used to be CIA Station Chief here in Mexico City, so if all hell breaks loose, at least I can call out the Cavalry !!

Adios, David

Bonjour mes amis ... Wednesday, April 26, 2006

Flew into Paris this morning after only a couple hours of sleep in London last night.

Tom hit the streets of Paris with his two kids - Isabelle and Connor - and did some shopping while I spent the afternoon doing some promo interviews with radio stations.

Everyone keeps asking me in interviews if Tom Cruise is behaving differently compared to last year when we circled the globe for "War of the Worlds."

The answer is yes. He's a lot more subdued ... but that could just be from lack of sleep (he told me he tried to sleep last night but couldn't from all the excitement and this insane schedule of ours).

However, I think Tom is just in a more reflective state right now since the birth of his baby girl Suri - it's quite a milestone in his life, as is his relationship with Katie. I think Tom is perhaps starting to view his life and career from a different perspective.

However, that didn't stop him from making a spectacular entrance for tonight's Paris premiere by flying across the city in a black helicopter and touching down at the foot of the red carpet, all with the "Mission Impossible" theme pumping through massive speakers.

The fans went nuts. It was a very cool way to make a red carpet entrance - I'd say the most impressive I'd ever seen.

French police ended up having to hold up the barricades after fans started surging forward in an attempt to get a glimpse of Tom. No one was hurt, but a few young girls had to be lifted from the crush of people by Tom's crack security staff - who do such an impressive job protecting fans and protecting Tom in the midst of the frenzied crowds.

Tom told me he was quite touched when he arrived in his hotel room at the Ritz Hotel to find a vase in the design of the Eiffel Tower filled with red roses - a gift sent from Katie in tribute to their engagement in Paris almost one year ago. He seemed quite moved by her surprise gesture ... it was very sweet.

A bunch of us are heading out for a late dinner at Buddha Bar (one of my favorite restaurants in Paris and our first chance to eat all day!!) and then who knows what this evening will bring in the City of Lights. Anything is possible when Tom Cruise storms a city!

We all have the day off tomorrow to catch our breath and chill before we jet off to Mexico City this weekend for a mucho grande fiesta!! Will report in from Mexico after some much deserved sleep and tell you about a very, very cool secret planned for our visit to New York City next week!

Au revoir from Paris,

London Calling ... Tuesday April 25, 2006

Well it's only our second stop on the "MI3" world tour and it already feels like we've been on the road for a month!

Jetted from Rome this morning at 7 a.m. after only a couple hours of sleep and after a few flight delays, touched down in London Town with seconds to spare before going live with Canada AM and CTV NewsNet to discuss this whirlwind adventure with Tom Cruise.

From there, it was zipping through London to Leicester Square for the red carpet premiere, where Tom signed autographs for FOUR HOURS!!

If there was a Guiness Book Of World Record category for that, I'm sure he just broke it. Unfortunately, it caused severe scheduling snafus for everyone else. When you're travelling with Tom, expect the unexpected and don't count on anything going according to plan. But it's all part of the adventure ... never ever a dull moment!

Lots more to report, but this whirlwind is gathering even more speed right now.

Will have to file once we land in Paris tomorrow. The "MI3" rollercoaster is out of control.

I'm starting to feel a little like Ethan Hunt myself now...

Saluti da Roma!! - Monday April 24, 2006

Had an amazing weekend ... even got a chance to confess my sins at the Vatican (it's been a while, so only Papal Power could absolve me of my years of bad behavior!!) I now call him 'P. Benny' and he said I'm 'good-to-go' for another five years!! Yeeee-hawwww!!

Tom Cruise finally arrived today with only seconds to spare as he raced into his 11 a.m. press conference before the very excitable Italian media. They swarmed him immediately afterwards for autographs and photos (so much for 'objective journalism'!!)

At the premiere in Piazza del Popolo, we arrived to literally thousands of screaming fans (one of the policemen estimated the crowd at 15,000 people) who had been standing in the 85 degree heat all day just to get a glimpse, autograph, or photo of Senoro Cruise.

Italian movie fans are so passionate. Tom was clearly overwhelmed by the turnout, and to his credit spent nearly three hours signing autographs.

Unfortunately, his generosity caused the movie to start two hours late (I don't think Philip Seymour Hoffman was too happy about that).

Tom kept his shades on the entire day and evening, trying his best to hide his jetlag and sleep deprivation. Papa Cruise admitted he's barely slept at all since Suri was born a week ago.

Tom's other two kids - Isabelle (13) and Connor (11) - waited behind me on the red carpet while their dad made his way through the crowds. They were pretty patient considering the long wait.

Going to the post-premiere party now - nobody has as much fun as the Italians. La Dolce Vita is the only way to do it!!! (although I may be regretting that statement in a few hours when I have to wake up for our 7 a.m. flight to London!!)

And if I play my cards right, I'll commit enough sins this evening to necessitate a return trip to Rome for some of P. Benny's absolution. Any excuse to come back to my family's hometown and one of the most exciting cities in the world!

I'll report in from the U.K. tomorrow. Let's hope Tom doesn't get squirted again on the London red carpet like last year (I'm running out of extra T-shirts for him!!)

Ciao Roma!!
