Every episode of "Lost" raises more questions that it does answers, which leaves rabid fans desperate for more. It's not uncommon for viewers to rush from their television to their computers to find out more about their favorite show. And when it comes to obsessive online fandom, "Lost" ranks up there with the most dedicated. We're talking Trekkie levels here.

It all began with a couple teaser websites that were to give away clues to upcoming episodes. If eager viewers looked hard enough, they could find a rejected page of the show's official script on a fake "Oceanic Airlines" website. But the website had no mention of the show, and masqueraded as an authentic airline website.

From there on, more websites followed this pattern, which included Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack, and Dharma Industries.

Television fans have always sought each other out online, from fans of "Canadian Idol" discussing their favorite contestants, to "Arrested Development" fans petitioning to save their show from cancellation. "Lost" has cultivated a massive online following that specifically want two things: news and spoilers.

"Spoilers" are secrets about future episodes that reveal major plot twists. But be warned, most of the spoilers you may find online are usually incorrect, as they are either fabricated by malicious fans, or created by "Lost" insiders to throw fans off the trail.

It's also easy to miss things the first time around watching a show, so by going online, viewers can find certain things they may have missed. A common occurrence on "Lost" is one character appearing in the background of another character's flashback episode. Did you know that Jack appeared as a doctor in the background when Maggie's Dad was in the hospital after his car accident? Well, if you didn't, you can go online and learn what you missed.

What follows is by no means an exhaustive list, as there are thousands of "Lost" websites out there in many languages. I've picked out a few sites that are worth checking out, and should help keep the "Lost" appetite in check between new episodes. I've divided them up into three categories: forums, great websites, and secret websites. Happy surfing!

Great Lost Websites

For anyone looking for more information about the show, unofficial fan sites are the way to go, with the exception being ABC's official "Lost page." These pages usually link to all the latest "Lost" interviews and spoilers. But for the curious, there are also a few sites that take obsession to a new level and provide a different look at the show.

  • CTV's and ABC's official Lost pages
The Canadian and American broadcasters of "Lost" have the best places to get official previews to upcoming episodes and are also a great source of show information for viewers.
  • Lost-tv.com
This is the number one fan site, with the most comprehensive listing about everything Lost related.
  • Black Rock
"Lost" has an endless supply of dedicated fans, as "Black Rock" shows. These fans capture images from the show and create maps of the island, the hatch, the beach and any other mystery that needs to be figured out. The level of detail they achieve is amazing.
  • Transmission: The Lost Podcast
You wouldn't think that a television show would have a large podcast following, but Transmission puts one out each week filled with the latest "Lost" news and spoilers.
  • Looking Lost
This fan site has great summaries of each "Lost" episode in case you need to catch up quickly. They also have lots of video, pictures and audio.
  • Lost Fan Fiction
A pastime most notoriously enjoyed by Star Trek fans, "Lost" fans are also creating their own "fan fiction." This listing is the most family-friendly, but for those with more exotic tastes, there is also a large "slash fiction" following. Check out Wiki for more info about "fan fiction" in general.
  • A Tribute to Driveshaft
Charlie's band Driveshaft is given an official website, just like any other band on the Internet. Complete with bios, music and band history.
  • Lost [music]
A database of sorts which lists every song ever used in a "Lost" episode.

The Forums

Message Boards, also called "forums" or just plain "boards," are places where like-minded fans can gather and discuss every minute detail of "Lost." There are usually different areas to discuss different parts of the show, like different episodes for different seasons, favorite characters, and the big draw -- spoilers. Remember two things when checking out the boards:

  • First, not everyone wants to be spoiled. Many people just want to catch up and want to be surprised. Most forums have rules in place about spoiling a show and giving away secrets, so always be sure to read their FAQ before posting.
  • Second, odds are you aren't the first person to find a hidden "Lost" site so be sure to use the board's "search" function before you get heckled for a rookie mistake. Those n00b taunts can follow you for a long time.

Secret Lost Sites

All right, so these aren't really "secret" websites, as they are more like "fake" sites. Some of them are created by the show, and some aren't. I won't spoil the fun for you about which are which, besides, you might not believe me anyways.

  • The Hanso Foundation
So if you're following along, Dharma Industries is the company doing something on the island, and the Hanso Foundation is the organization that was doing some kind of research project.
  • Oceanic Air
This is one of the original sites to start it all off. Click the green "find" button on the ticket search to find out more about the show.
  • The Mega Lotto Jackpot
Do you remember when Hurley hit the Jackpot?
  • Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack
The fast-food company Hurley used to work for, and whose mascot also makes a cameo appearance in the hatch.
