LONDON — model Kate Moss apologized Thursday to "all the people I have let down'' after allegations that she took cocaine - but stopped short of explicitly acknowledging that she had used the drug.

In a statement, Moss said: "I take full responsibility for my actions. I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them.''

"I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behaviour, which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others,'' the statement said. "I am trying to be positive, and the support and love I have received are invaluable.''

The waif-like model's problems have multiplied since the Daily Mirror newspaper last week published photos that appeared to show her snorting cocaine. She has been dropped from campaigns by H&M and Burberry, and Chanel said it was not renewing her contract.

London's Metropolitan Police said it is investigating the newspaper's claims of drug use.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
