NAPANEE, Ont. — Three people were arrested after the front door was kicked in during a confrontation at the home of pop singer Avril Lavigne's parents on Monday night.

"The incident had nothing to do with the singer herself but rather with another family member," Const. Sheri Wanamaker of the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police said Tuesday.

Police were called after a panic alarm was called in by a security company after 9:30 p.m.

"When the police arrived at the residence a few minutes later, they were told by the homeowner that the door had been kicked in by a group of angry youths," Wanamaker said.

The confrontation involved a piece of property. When they were denied access, the group decided to force their way in, said Wanamaker.

"All I can say is that it was a piece of property that one of the individuals charged believed belonged to her," she said.

Three people were later arrested in nearby Belleville, and charged with mischief and being unlawfully in a dwelling house.

Curtis Rosborough, 21, and Ashley Dalpee and Michael Bush, both 19, are scheduled to appear in court June 8.
