The Top 10 revealed: A difficult and emotional evening

Canada has voted and the Top 12 are now 10. It was a difficult and emotional evening as Corynne Barron and Daniel Dory said goodbye to host Leah Miller, the judges and the rest of the dancers.

Top 12: Luther Brown's hip-hop group number

The Top 12 were in top form in Luther Brown's hard-hitting hip-hop number. Costumed in PVC bodysuits, the girls were fierce and the guys looked tough with tattoos painted on their torsos. The unison sections were fast and rhythmic.

"It was sick and fresh and bucc," Leah said afterwards, thanking Luther for his choreography.

The bottom three

Canada voted over a million times after Tuesday night's performance show and the three couples with the fewest votes were at risk of elimination.

The bottom couples would have to dance for their lives and judges, Jean Marc Genereux and Tré Armstrong and guest judges Mia Michaels and Rex Harrington had the difficult task of cutting one guy and one girl.

The couples stepped on stage, visibly anxious and after watching highlights from the previous night's duets, host Leah Miller revealed the bottom three couples: Melanie and Cody, Corynne and Austin, and Jayme Rae and Daniel.

Solos: The bottom three girls

Melanie was first to dance and took to the stage with a quirky and technically strong contemporary solo. Costumed in a black and white skirt and matching bra top, she wowed the crowd with huge leaps and quirky parallel movement.

Next up was Corynne and her classical contemporary routine that highlighted her long legs. In a teal dress, she performed her lyrical routine, ending with a smile.

Starting in a spotlight and costumed in a white satin dress, Jayme Rae performed her emotional contemporary routine that involved floor work and Russian jumps.

Solos: The bottom three guys

Cody started his lyrical hip-hop solo in the centre of the stage. Costumed in a red leather jacket, he got the crowd screaming, and even flashed his abs near the end of his routine.

Next, Austin began his highly technical contemporary solo. In white pants and a pale blue t-shirt, Austin performed an emotionally wrought routine with sharp fouettés that morphed into effortless pirouettes. "I'm feeling okay," he said to Leah afterwards. "It was fun!"

Finally, Daniel performed his hip-hop number complete in jeans and a black hoodie he unzipped to show off his sculpted abs. There was intricate footwork and hard, popping movements and he finished with an asymmetrical pirouette.

The verdict: Girls

The judges had their work cut out for them and after a difficult deliberation, they were ready to break the news.

The three bottom girls stepped on stage and held hands as Jean Marc delivered the verdict. "I couldn't be more proud of you," he told all three dancers.

"Melanie, you are a beast, and there's no 'but,' you're staying," he said and an excited Melanie ran off stage.

"Corynne, that was not your best performance last night. You're leaving us," he said, adding that Jayme Rae had made it to the Top 10.

"You are one of the most beautiful dancers I've ever seen, Corynne," Leah said, her voice full of emotion.

A very gracious Corynne fought tears and told her fellow dancers they were all extremely deserving.

"Follow your passion, follow your dreams and see where life takes you," Corynne said after her highlight reel.

The verdict: Guys

The difficult cut was delivered to the guys next.

"In this competition, there are no losers," Tré began.

She noted that Cody struggled with jazz, Daniel had struggled with contemporary and that Austin had been in the bottom three times before.

Cody was safe, as was Austin. Daniel was heading home. The dancers were extremely upset.

"Daniel is our little boo-boo," Leah said, revealing his backstage nickname.

He thanked everyone with poise and grace. "I learned so much and I'm going to take everything I learned and go back to Montreal and use it all," he said, fighting tears.

"I love performing," he said.
