What an amazing night! The dancers are all so fantastic, it's crazy. And the audience was just so receptive.

When the dancers auditioned, it got comfortable -- they spent the entire day and sometimes week with the same people, the same dancers, the same camera crew, the same production staff. But the first show was so much different!

It was so exciting to have new eyes watching their dancing. The dancers finally got to meet their fans, people who also really love dance. These people have never seen it before and the dancers could really feel this new energy.

We all felt the amazing energy in the theatre!

Jean Marc I know you are the parent of a child with special needs. I am too. She has autism and she lives to dance. She is five and just recently become verbal..such a blessing. She wants to perform, and so like any mom I have tried to find her a dance teacher. We thought we had found one but it hasnt worked out. The parents do not want her there because she is different, even though my daughter Eowyn learns the steps as quickly as their children, and the teacher doesnt want her there because she is different too. I am so frustrated and heartbroken and looking for ideas. All my daughter does is dance through life. How do I prepare her for life and protect her yet give her the skills she desires when we live in a small community. I am a musician, not a dancer. My blog at www.allkidshavespecialneeds.blog.ca has the wanted ad I am thinking of running in the town paper to try and find a dance teacher for my daughter. I know this isnt about your topic but I am out of ideas for how to help my very talented little girl with autism learn to dance!

On the American version, the judges attempt to explain their decisions on whom they have cut.

I'm asking for the same treatment on Canada's version. The dancers deserve it and the viewers deserve it. Even if the format has to change to allow you and the other judges more time, this really needs to be done.

Seems like the judges are the only ones in the country that thought Kevin should be eliminated. What gives? Kind of a disappointing way to start. The voters have to take some responsibility for choosing the bottom 3, but you guys could have chosen Francis and it would have made more sense to everyone.

I am utterly disgusted with the dismissal of Kevin. I'm so disappointed that the judges would send home one of the more obviously talented male dancers. If this is how the show is going to be judged I don't even want to continue watching...it is too infuriating. Why would you let one of your more talented dancers go and keep someone who has less technique?!?! What is the point of dancing for your life when judges make up their minds beforehand?

That's where you'll find the list of music. (or on the home page, bottom left...)

I am so disgusted with the results of the first elimination round of sytycd Canada. I am such a huge fan of the show and being a dancer in Canada myself i am blown-away with your choices as the judges. First of all i think Canada voted completely wrong. Why wasn't Tamina or Lara in the bottom Canada - they don't even compare to Breanne who was voted off tonight! And Kevin???PLEASE - it should have been Francis. IT would be nice if the judges would explain the reason for eliminating who they do because that show tonight was infuriating! I really want to love the Canadian version but i am super disappointed tonight as i am sure a lot of people are. Please get it right next time - Kevin was your BEST dancer and a more thorough critique of the dancers would be appreciated...then maybe the public would vote better - just saying......

I agree with Cory. It was very disappointing to see Kevin leave the show this early. He's a beautiful dancer.
Still, the talent in this competition is amazing and I am so proud of all of our Canadian dancers. And I loved the Capoeira routine!

Seems a real hornet's nest was stirred-up tonight with the decision to send Kevin home. I'm sure you have great respect for him as a dancer. Unfortunately, the half-hour format for the elimination show left the viewing public wanting for some kind of explanation as to how you and the other judges arrived at your decision. I surmised that the main reason the half-hour format was selected was due to inability to fill an hour with contributions from outside talent on a weekly basis. Are you aware of any plans to expand the results show later in the season? Anyway Jean Marc, nice job, and keep it real!

alot of fans do not agree with the decision to send kevin home. please allow more time and judges should deliberate backstage where votes can be discussed in quiet and be accounted for.

With all due respect Jean Marc but please explain why you sent home Kevin? Their are alot of fans who disagree with this result. Francis should have gone home. I expected the judges to deliberate OUT of the studio where all votes could be discussed and heard. CTV should give an hour. IF SOMEONE GETS INJURED BRING KEVIN BACK!!!

Bonjour jean-Marc,

Bravo encore!

We just watched the 1st elimination round and the judges got it so wrong! Kevin is a spectacular dancer - with not enough air time for explanation - it was a huge shock. There is no doubt that Kevin has superior talent over Francis who should have been eliminated. CTV has to schedule more time for the eliminations, or the judges have to take more time to explain their decision. We are huge fans/watchers of SYTYCD and we're so proud as Canadians that the talent is at such a high level, but, this first week was a huge disappointment.

Lisa and Vincent made me cry and your own comment was just perfect. With the choregrapher, they were the Holy Trinity of So You can dance Canada as a judge said about Joshua and Katee... in All by myself of Celine Dion. The music was very well chosen too.
