I thought the first show was such a fantastic way to start the season. The dancers all looked amazing. They really pulled up. I think before they were dancing hard, but now they're dancing their hearts out and really trying to prove that they're the one to beat.
I love sitting behind the judging table with Tré and Luther and Jean Marc. I think we have good chemistry and a good connection. We're all really different and work really well together.
I was booed a whole bunch, but I really don't mind that at all -- it's inevitable. Sometimes dancers mess up and I say how it is. It might be harsh, but I have to be honest. Feelings might get hurt, but it's a competition and I'm there to judge. I'm not going to sugarcoat my feelings and if the audience is going to boo, they'll boo. Besides, I have a louder mic.
I'm really not looking forward to sending anyone home on Thursday. I am excited though to see the group piece and how the dancers work together. Also, we'll get to see some solos and how badly the bottom three couples want to be in the competition. It's definitely going to be hard to see someone go. It'll be a good show, but it's going to be sad.

p.s. let them boo their hearts out - in the end, you know that you're right. and any good dancer needs just that kind of constructive criticism in order to grow.

If you aren't getting booed by the fans you aren't being an honest judge. Don't worry about it, don't appologize. Everyone understands, and we boo anyway!
:D
Keep up the good work

Did not think that you were harsh at all. The more you talk the more screen time you get...and who could complain about that? :) I admire your dancing and choreography. I would recommend viewers go check out your “myspace” and read about you…they will understand that you come from the heart. Since you competed in SYTYCD US and experienced the constructive criticism you can relate to the dancers and what they need to hear to improve their performances. As for the public, we need someone that will keep it real for those of us that are “dance challenged” (like myself) and sometimes cannot see passed the great personality.

I really appreciate that you gave the dancers critiques and suggestions on how to improve. I get irritated when all that is talked about at the end of a so-so dance is that the dancers looked good. Most of the viewing public are people with little or no dance experience, and the reason for having a panel of expert judges is that you know what you are looking for, how the dances should be done, and when the dancers display good technique. The public needs to know when dancers are getting it right and when they miss the mark. We can easily see who is most entertaining and who looks good, but we can't always tell if they are doing the dancing justice. I hope you keep on keeping it real because your mic is louder, and what you say has value. No booing from me!
Looking forward to what promises to be an amazing competition!

I thought you were fantastic on the show last night. I couldn't help but feeling that there were times that you wanted to be more "honest". Dancers have to learn to take the criticism even if the audience doesn't want to hear it. It is how they get better. Be honest, keep it real and I hope we will get to see some of your amazing choreography on the show at some point.

Blake, I respect your opinion as I think you’re a great dancer & your Choreography is amazing. However, the comment about the female dancer looking like a grandmother really didn't get it. I personally thought all the dancers looked beautiful.
My 9 year old daughter loves SYTYCD and she was surprised by the way the judges kept saying how hot the girls were, after while she was predicting what some of the judges would say before they even spoke. At times it seemed like there was more focus on the physical appearance then the actual dancing, this is just a matter of personal opinion and I still have great respect for all the judges. The show is amazing and Canada's top 20 dancers are fabulous – it’s too bad there can only be one winner.
I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Tammy Kay
