Winter can be cold and wet. But tech expert Marc Saltzman helps you stay warm during the dreary winter months with these new toys and gadgets.

Electric coat from Columbia Sportswear

"This is a great jacket in terms of quality and comfort," Saltzman said on Wednesday on CTV's Canada AM.

Designed primarily for sporty types, this lifestyle coat includes:

  • Omni-Heat technologies -- a thermal reflective shell with a thermal reflective and insulated liner that has "heat-on demand" warmth. Simply press a button, indicating heat levels from high to low, and you've got core warmth at three levels for up to six hours.
  • It also has a charge for your gadgets where you can plug in your iPod or phone.
  • Price: $800 - $900.

Etre Five Point Gloves

These new Itouch screen gloves are made with a special conductive yarn. "That lets you use them without taking them off," said Saltzman.

  • The gloves are designed to use on a touchscreen phone or tablet.
  • The gloves have specially-designed "contact woven" fingertips. They let you touch, tap, stroke and slide touchscreens devices in any way you need. All fingers and thumbs have the tips.
  • Price: $10.

Tooks

This spin on the traditional winter toque comes with built-in headphones. "It lets you hear music through the material, not through a plug in the ear," said Saltzman.

  • Tooks has a simple, hassle-free cord that exits the back of the hat. You just plug it in and go!
  • Whether you're out walking, jogging, biking, snow riding or just sitting around the house, Tooks are a great companion to your MP3 player or other favourite media players.
  • A small piece of Velcro keeps the speakers in place, allowing you to easily reposition them over your ears as needed.
  • Price: $24.99.

USB Heated Blanket

If you're caught sitting for hours in a drafty office or airport this winter, you can stay toasty warm just by plugging in this USB heated blanket into your laptop. "It can plug it any computer with a USB port," said Saltzman.

  • This velour lap-blanket comes with electric heating elements.
  • Powered by 2 USB Ports -- no wall outlet needed.
  • Use one plug for low and both plugs for high.
  • Temperature reaches approximately 37 degrees Celsius.
  • Good for places like the office where space heaters are not permitted.
  • Price: $24.99 from thinkgeek.com.
