Just days after thousands of blackbirds dropped out of the sky over a small town in Arkansas, another 500 birds fell to their death over a Louisiana highway.

Carcasses from both groups have been sent to researchers at the National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and the University of Georgia , but at the time being there is no clear link.

Such massive wildlife kills are not uncommon.

The results of tests on the dead birds in Arkansas are in, but investigators say the mystery may never be completely solved. However, scientists say it's probable New Year's Eve fireworks played a role, scaring the birds into a frenzy, causing them to run into each other.

George Badley, the state veterinarian with Arkansas' Livestock and Poultry Commission, says tests on a handful of the thousands of dead birds all showed internal injuries.

"The 17 birds we did a necropsy on had internal bleeding that looks like blunt force trauma -- like they ran into something, would be our best guess," Dr. George Badley told CTV's Canada AM Tuesday morning.

Tests have, so far, ruled out poison and lightning as the cause of the birds' mass death.

"They all had internal bleeding and no signs of disease, but our pathologist is continuing to make sure that they are no viruses, germs or poisons in the birds," Badley added.

Late Monday, the Chief of the Wildlife Management division at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission which is heading up the probe, suggested fireworks may be to blame.

"They get some kind of loud noise that would spook them . . . and they don't generally fly at nighttime and they start crashing into each other," David Goad told CTV News Channel, explaining that locals describe the birds as flying low at the time.

Goad said the birds likely suffered severe trauma in those mid-air collisions, subsequently forming blood clots that helped kill them.

However, he said it was possible the birds were so scared by the fireworks that they just wore "their muscles out."

Between 11:30 p.m. and midnight on New Year's Eve, thousands of birds plummeted to the ground over an area about 1.5 kilometres long and 800 metres wide in Beebe, Ark.

When it was over, the community of about 5,000 people northeast of Little Rock were left to pick up the carcasses. Most were red-winged blackbirds, though grackles and starlings were also among the dead.

Just one day earlier, tens of thousands of dead and dying fish washed up along a 40-kilometre stretch of the Arkanasa River near the city of Ozark about 200 kilometres west of Beebe.

While the timing and proximity has fuelled a variety of conspiracy theories linking the events, Badley says officials don't believe the mass deaths are connected.

"Everyone here in Arkansas believes that these two events are completely unrelated," Badley told Canada AM.

Because only drum fish washed up along the Arkansas River, experts have suggested the die-off was likely due to disease, rather than contamination.

It could take up to one month for the results of tests on the dead fish.

Instead of blaming people, they should be looking at mother nature. Do these birds even fly at night? In all likelihood, they were congregating in a marshy area, perhaps at night, and a tornado landed on them. They could easily be carried over a long distance by the winds up in the clouds.

Type E botulinum toxin has been associated with fish die offs including Drum fish like those identified in Ozark Arkansas. The toxin can contaminate shellfish which are ingested by the fish. When the fish die, birds often eat the fish or maggots feeding on the fish. Within a matter of hours (enough time to fly one to several hundred miles), the botox neurotoxin paralyzes the bird’s wing muscles causing them to literally fall out of the sky. If that doesn’t kill the birds, their respiratory muscles eventually succumb as well. The trauma observed in dead blackbirds likely occured from hitting the ground. Given the facts, I would think that this theory would be one of the first to be investigated (before lighteningand fireworks at least) by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. If the results are negative, a second plausible scenario might be the intentional poisoning of the birds where the poison ended up in the river in Ozark killing the fish. However, the fact that more birds have been found dead (downstream) in Labarre Louisiana leads me to believe the first possibility is more likely. I wonder what the reports of no toxin, poison or disease being involved are based on.

This is HARP related definately. The grid systems that they operate off of are 1x1 mile grids. I've read on both incidents so far that the affects birds were all within a contained 1 mile radius. HARP technology is built off a type of Russian math system that uses direct energy transfer. The North American version of energy transfer would be like sending one ping pong ball down a mile long tube, taking time to travel down till it exists the other end. HARP direct transfer system would pack the entire tube full of ping pong balls, you put one in and one automatically falls out the other end. This takes tremendous about of energy to make this happen, maybe that's why our Northern Artic HARP station is build on top of one of the largest natural gas deposits in the world. I've done my homework on this. Also, there is alot of chatter about why so many bridges starting falling down at the same time acouple years ago.

Guth said something that he either knows about, or maybe, just a guess as he presented. The military in all countries have been working on ways to use what we know as microwave energy. They are perfecting it, using something more lethal to life on this planet. We all use the original now, internet, cell and digital TV. They are trying to perfect and direct it. Those same signals may be being received by your router or modem for your in home wireless connection and cell phone use. There are sites around the world, (US, RUSSIA & CHINA) that these government paid scientist's are working on. Some of what they do is directed into the atmosphere, others into the ground. Some bounce off the outer layers of earth's atmosphere and return to wherever. Was this a TEST of what they can do and then see results??? This one FAILED, or "Suceeded" and now they know it. They will try again. Without killing humans! WAIT!, when they kill a human population, your thoughts may change. Have you seen a lot of sickness in the people you know lately?? It's called, in their minds collateral damage. Talk about tweaking!! I read something a while ago in Discover magazine regarding these microwave tests from the northern US.. I am Canadian but does it really matter where I live??, or YOU.

Since when do Red-winged blackbirds & grackles fly at night?? To my knowledge, they roost from sunset to sunup. There should be just as many injured birds as dead birds if it were a mid-air bird collision. As to why they fell from the sky, one can only guess that they took flight to escape something hazardous on the ground. Sour gas?? Whatever it was... I'm damn sure that mankind was behind it! Way-to-go!! NOT!!!!

Here's my theory: Probably due to some invisible floating tailings pond....They should fine the invisible floating oil company who is responsible (called Floatcrude, no doubt) 3 million dollars for these avian deaths as well, just like for the ducks in Alberta! The ridiculousness that people think the cause of death is getting spooked by fireworks and dive bombing straight into the ground is completely laughable. Why then only red-winged blackbirds? And surely there were bigger and louder firework shows outside of Arkansas! Can birds stay suicidally spooked for 4 days?

Fireworks ?????? What kind of cover up is this .The biologists should very well know that most birds with the exception of Owls do not fly at night .And most of those birds were Red -winged Blackbirds , these birds are more or less marsh dwellers. What are fireworks doing being lit near a marsh..Fireworks ignite and explode hundreds of feet above the ground.Just had to throw that out there..Not fireworks but definately air borne substance.Check those Jet streams for sulfates /or aluminum-oxides.That would explain the dead fish as well..Food for thought..This is a case of ..Told You So, but then again who am I

This sounds like something like HAARP or some kind of sonic weapon testing. Somebody should check to see if their are any major military installations nearby.
Regarding the 'diseased' fish. This is ridiculous even to a non-scientist like me. Why would a disease kill off such a mass number of of fish all at once. granted, diseases can spread quickly in a closed system like a river however it would have began more gradually with a bell curve of kills. Not all at once?
This is a cover up and needs to be investigated independantly.

Unfortunately, the goverment is trying to explain away these deaths as "common". When usually mass kills such as these can be from a large air-borne vehicle, which has excellerated to high speed in very, almost non-existent time-line. What would this supposed vehicle be, is anyones guess or speculation.

So, all the dead birds JUST HAPPENED to be red-winged blackbirds, starlings, grackles... all major agricultural pests! Clearly this was the result of a clandestine operation, perhaps by a government agricultural department, to spray them with toxins, all to appease some farmers who may have been losing some of their crops to the voracious avian marauders. The fish kill was probably a by-product, resulting from residues that landed in the water... how utterly sickening that these things are still happening in this supposedly enlightened day and age, but it adds insult to injury when they so blatantly try to cover up the truth.

Arkansas... stretching from Texarkana in the Southwest to where the Ohio mixes with the mighty Mississip' in the Northeast.

Home of Daisy Bates, Daisy Mae, Dee Brown, Glen Campbell, Hattie Caraway, Dizzy Dean, the late Orval Faubus, James W. Fulbright, Douglas MacArthur, Elmer Fudd, John L. McClellan, Johnny Cash, James S. McDonnel, Dick Powell, Winthrop Rockefeller, Foghorn Leghorn, Mary Steenburgen, Edward Durell Stone, Archibald Yell and former governor and 42nd President of the United States of America - Bill Clinton.

But, back in the fifties, a black ops operation, run covertly by the CIA, secretly conducted weapons tests in the heavily forested Ozark hills.

The state governor at the time, Orval Faubus, acted against the legislature to rescind the only statute capable of preventing the project - a law which had been instituted back in the ol' Confederate days.

In a heavily forested area, elevated 2000 feet on the Ozark Plateau, unexplored except by the mysterious Quapaw Indians, it was said by the local folk of Murfreesboro that the Ouachita River was haunted with the ghosts of murdered settlers!

But today, Jefferson is the home of NCTR - the National Center for Toxicological Research. Any conspiratorial conspiracies linking the NCTR with the mysterious New Year's Eve Bird Deaths of 2011, where thousands of birds plummeted to their deaths in droves, are purely speculative and connections to the sudden death of thousands of fish in the Arkansas River are disputed. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission headed up the probe, establishing that fireworks were to blame...

Louisiana and Arkansas share the same rivers that run directly into the Gulf. Fish die, and a week later birds (who eat fish) die. It's called the food chain.

@ Charles.. sorry, I can't bite off on either of those ones. Advanced form of radiation? Radiation is a naturally occuring (and sometimes madmade) event that humans and animals have been exposed to for as long as things have roamed the planet.. radiation from both the sun and from the earth itself. How exactly does one "advance" radioactive waves or particles? They're not a piece of technology. Radiation does a lot of unnatural things to a living being, but it does NOT inflict blunt force trauma. Secondly, birds use more than just eyesight for navigation and directing their body movements in the air. I doubt this is the only planet in the cosmos that supports life but seriously, they all bouned off an invisible spacecraft / object hard enough to kil themselves? Great idea for sci-fi fans, I need more evidence to believe it.

I am NOT religious and I completely believe it's a shift in the earth's magnetism. I am a scientist and Earth's polarity flips every 250,000 years or so and that presumably half way through each 'flip' cycle, the field goes to a value near zero. There are no identifiable fossil effects from previous flips, so perhaps they are not as mutagenic as we might suppose. On the other hand, perhaps other species are less susceptible to genetic damage than we humans! We know that many species of bacteria, birds and fish can sense the direction of the magnetic field and use it for migration and finding food in murky waters. These animals may perish 'suddenly' when the field changes and they can no longer rely on it to orient themselves. Just a thought...... or it could turn out that these two incidences are completely unrrelated!

Organizations like Info Wars, Beck, Bill O'Reilly etc have saturated the market and so many people then peddle the theory that money will become obsolete, govts are spraying chemicals into our air, and the apocolypse (which never gets old btw). Of course, many will deny it, but the evidence is stunning and worth a read...As far as the birds go, this could be similar to what happened in "The happening", or, they could have bumped into an invisible space craft or been exposed to some advanced form of radiation...The question is, is this happening elsewhere?

Logic, people.. logic. Birds do not randomly fly themselves into the ground with enough force to instantly kill themselves (blunt force trauma). The only possibility is something external.. a single object like an aircraft cannot cover that massive volume of airspace the birds occupied, so it has to be something far bigger and extremely powerful. A microburst perhaps?

All banjoes aside. Where I grew up, we had a bug in the water that everyone called 'the itch'. That bug, actually a parasite had a really complex life cycle which included clams, fish, microscopic bugs, and ended up in ducks. This particular itch would mature in the duck and then be 'deposited' back into the lake with every...well you know. The result was small kids in shallow warm waters being covered in a rash that looked like chicken pox.I would be willing to guess that after much smarter people than I have had a year or two to study this problem, they will find a direct connection between the fish and the birds. They will also find that because the deaths were species specific...no other types of fish or birds in the same area died, that the cause was biological and not a man made toxin.

Was there something unusual this time -- was this the first time fireworks were set off at New Year's there, perhaps? Not everyone will understand what is now taking place in the world and the times we are now in. I wont get too deep but this is the quickest way I can explain what I know. Those who believe in God know there is good and evil. There are good and evil spirits, realms etc. The bible does say that the world will be in complete turmoil before Christ returns (2 Thessalonians 2:3-9) . Politics, religion, the economy etc will all be in a mess. The good news is there will be no more bad when he comes. So for those who have already personally received Christ as their savior...let the good times begin! For those who have not done this - yet. He will be handing out retribution to those who do not know Him. So I encourage you to take the time to do your own research on God. Pray about it and see what happens. Even if you are not saved. Read the bible and then ask questions. Visit a local church and speak with a Pastor in order to get clear answers to any questions you may have.
