Many thanks to everyone for sending in their photos and telling us their stories about why they need help choosing paint colours; especially Tanya from Mississauga, Ont., Margaret from Calgary, Alta. and Roberta from Oakville, Ont., as I had the pleasure of choosing paint colours for rooms in their homes.
I had a great time making the colour selections; some predictably safe and others quite daring! I offered up three choices for each room and will let them choose which one they are courageous enough to decorate with.
Note: All paint colours/codes are from C2 Paints. The chips can all be viewed online using the digital colour palette.
Here are the paint colours suggested on Thursday, March 19's show:
Tanya's living room:
- Safe, neutral choice: Grout C2-447
- Punchy colour choice: Russian Olive C2-455
- Daring designer choice: Berry Brown C2-074
Karl also suggested adding colourful cushions to the dark leather furniture and more artwork to the room.
Margaret's family room:
- Safe, neutral choice: Hemp C2-394
- Punchy colour choice: Artichoke Heart C2-198
- Daring designer choice: Grand Canyon C2072
Karl also suggested an area rug in the seating area and co-ordinating (but not matching) hall runner. Also, drapes on windows will help to complete this room.
Roberta's kitchen and eating area:
- Safe, neutral choice: Artesian C2-473
- Punchy colour choice: Silver Screen C2-477
- Daring designer choice: Bohemian C2-308
Karl also suggested drapes on the dining window and a strong piece of art on the kitchen entry wall.
A very special thanks to C2 Paints; they are sending Tanya, Margaret and Roberta each sample paint pots of the colours I've suggested for their rooms. There's nothing that makes the final decision easier (and more fun) than experiencing the actual colour brushed on the walls at home!
Do you have a design dilemma that you need my help with? Hanging artwork, accessorizing a mantel? Choosing the right window treatment?
Please send me a short note and up to 3 digital pictures. The producers will keep all the questions that are submitted and plan a few more 'Design Dilemma" segments in upcoming months. You can email me your questions and comments to: homedecor@ctv.ca.
