WELCOME HOME!
Welcome to the new home decor blog for Canada AM. Each week I hope to post ideas and products that inspire you and help turn your house into a wonderful haven.
A bit about me: I was born, schooled and raised in Southwestern Ontario. I am naturally a creative type and as a young boy, was always trying to improve my mother's recipes, re-arrange the furniture, or cuff a pair of pants. Needless to say, my mother was quite thrilled to see me graduate from college and move out so we could each cook, decorate and dress our own way!
After studying business, advertising and marketing, I ventured into the corporate world working for various advertising agencies, banks and even the phone company. Wearing a tie every day was not in my creative DNA so I left the corporate world to follow a dream of working in the world of home decor.
My decorating career path started me off as a salesman in a furniture store, marketing manager for a design magazine and eventually to style editor of Style At Home magazine. I've worked on television shows, been a stage/set designer and a speaker/lecturer at home shows and trade events. Oh, and along the way I've taken many interior design classes and helped hundreds of people decorate their houses!
I must admit that the family room (or great room as its often referred to) is my favorite room to decorate. It's a room that brings family and friends together while offering comfort and style. I hope one day you will write me to say that you saw a product or idea on the show that inspired you to decorate your house into the home that you've always wanted it to be.
I look forward to hearing from you; your design dilemmas, your questions and inquiries; about the ideas, items and topics we've discussed on the show. Please visit this blog every week; I promise something new and intriguing from the world of design. Please send your notes to: homedecor@ctv.ca
