John Sewell has been buying, selling and appraising antiques for more than 30 years. He appears regularly on CTV's Canada AM, where he appraises viewer submissions and talks about the fascinating world of antiques.

The first submission is a glass piece, decorated with lily ornamentation that was purchased in from an antique dealer for $200 in 1972, the viewer writes.

Sewell says the item was likely used as a centrepiece and is a great "example of Victorian opulent times." It was likely an English piece made between 1890 and 1920, which is valued at $1500 today.

The second viewer submission is a jug that Sewell calls "country decorating at its best."

The five-gallon jug was made in Brantford, Canada West, pre-Confederation, between the years of 1859 to 1867. It was likely used for "vinegar or possibly home brew," he said.

Sewell valued the jug at about $650.

The third viewer submission was a figure of a lady in a bathing suit that was acquired in the Halifax area. It's partner, a male diver figurine, was lost in 1947.

On its own, the female figurine, likely produced in 1918, is valued at $650 yet the pair could be worth $1500 together.
