BC Ferries ends flights to Vancouver Island

VICTORIA Don't expect to catch a flying ferry between the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island, as of Tuesday afternoon.
BC Ferries has been offering charter flights between the Mainland community of Powell River, and Comox, on Vancouver Island, for the last two weeks.
The flights, at the same price as the walk-on fare for ferry travel between the two cities, end tomorrow when the Queen of Burnaby returns to the Powell River-Comox run.
The 192-car vessel has been undergoing repairs to its hydraulic controls and port propeller since Feb. 6, and was replaced by the 49-car North Island Princess.
There was concern that the reduced capacity would prevent Powell River residents from reaching important medical or other appointments in Comox, so BC Ferries arranged the charter flights for those in the most urgent need.
The Queen of Burnaby is slated to resume its regular runs Tuesday morning and BC Ferries says the charters will end after Tuesday's scheduled flights are completed.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
