CAW members block Caterpillar locomotive in Ingersoll

INGERSOLL, Ont. — Workers protesting the lockout of Electro-Motive employees in London were continuing to block a Caterpillar locomotive in Ingersoll, Ont., on Wednesday night.
Reports from the scene said the train had been allowed to move on earlier Wednesday after police intervened.
But a spokesman for the Canadian Auto Workers union said about 80 members remained blocking the train and plan to stay on through the night.
The locomotive, which was built at the London plant, was initially held up at a downtown crossing on Thames Street by about 100 people.
Provincial police arrived at the scene but Const. Stacey Culbert said they were there to ensure public safety, adding no charges were likely.
A CAW spokesman said it's believed the locomotive originated in Stratford and was headed to Salford, just southeast of Ingersoll, to be painted.
About 450 Electro-Motive employees have been locked out since Jan. 1. Caterpillar is demanding steep wage cuts and benefits concessions.

I feel that if certain organs were in demand, less effort would be made to revive people. Am I being silly? Not really. I had a bad experience in hospital when my heart stopped, the doctors tried to revive me and failed. They stopped and said I was gone. I came around on my own when the nurse was giving a final BP reading of 'zero'. I heard her declare me dead! It was all I could do to shake my head but they never caught on til I was able to open my eyes. You should have seen them scramble then! I thought the nurse was going to faint. The thing is, I think we may write people off too soon when there is something of value to be gained from them.
