The Canadian military has relocated some staff at its East Coast intelligence centre following the arrest of a junior naval officer accused of spying for Russia.

The shuffle involves intelligence staff at the highly-secure Trinity establishment at Canadian Forces Base Stadacona in Halifax. They are now posted at the nearby Shearwater air base in Dartmouth.

A senior military source has told CTV News the Trinity building is now being swept for surveillance bugs and computer viruses.

"As part of a normal and prudent business contingency plan, personnel belonging to elements of HMCS Trinity have been relocated to 12 Wing Shearwater for an undetermined time period as a security precaution," the Defence Department said in a statement.

Sub.-Lt. Jeffrey Delisle, 40, charged last week with leaking information to a "foreign entity" and breach of trust, was posted to Trinity last August.

Sources have told CTV News that Delisle allegedly leaked information to Russia. He is also charged under the Criminal Code with a breach of trust by a public officer.

Lawyer Cameron MacKeen told a brief court proceeding Monday that he could no longer represent Delisle. He didn't offer a reason for withdrawing from the case.

Delisle's next court appearance has been scheduled for Feb. 28, when a date for a bail hearing will be set.

This guys ex-wife maybe supprised, but the rest of us are really supprised to hear a lawyer has bowed out of a court case to give up all that free tax payers money...When have you ever heard of a lawyer turning down a money case?

As a militar member should he not have a military lawyer? What a disgrace to put his family through the embarrassment of knowing their son might be a coward.

Good! I would imagine trying to defend a Canadian Forces officer for treason would be very difficult to live with.

I feel that if certain organs were in demand, less effort would be made to revive people. Am I being silly? Not really. I had a bad experience in hospital when my heart stopped, the doctors tried to revive me and failed. They stopped and said I was gone. I came around on my own when the nurse was giving a final BP reading of 'zero'. I heard her declare me dead! It was all I could do to shake my head but they never caught on til I was able to open my eyes. You should have seen them scramble then! I thought the nurse was going to faint. The thing is, I think we may write people off too soon when there is something of value to be gained from them.

Should all Canadians be automatically considered organ donors?
