FREDERICTON — New Brunswick's finance minister has announced a review of public-sector pension plans in the province.

Blaine Higgs says the review is to ensure the pension plans are affordable, sustainable and have secure benefits.

He says the government must ensure the plans are managed as efficiently and transparently as possible.

The review will be done by a three-person panel that is already examining private-sector pensions in New Brunswick.

Higgs says the group is best suited to conduct the review because they have already accumulated significant information on various plans and regulations.

No date has been set for the review to be completed.

A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
