KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A 63-year-old Kamloops, B.C., man is dead and his 18-year-old son is in custody, accused of the slaying.

The teen was picked up outside his home late Monday afternoon as RCMP responded to a call from a Kamloops neighbourhood.

The victim, who has not been officially identified, was found inside the house.

Investigators have not said how the man died.

The young suspect does not have a criminal record and police say more information about charges is expected to be released later Tuesday.

The killing is Kamloops' second homicide of 2011.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
