Astronaut says space station Internet too slow for games

EDMONTON — Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield has told a room full of young people the Internet aboard the International Space Station is too slow to play online games -- but he doesn't mind.
Hadfield, the first Canadian to walk in space, says being at the station is better than playing any game.
He was responding to an audience question during a Canada Day presentation at a historic airport hangar in Edmonton.
A young man wanted to know if any of the astronauts played online games during their spare time in space.
Hadfield noted that since the spacecraft travels at eight kilometres per second, the speed of the station's Internet connection is about the same as dial-up.
Hadfield has flown two missions in space and is scheduled to be the first Canadian to command the International Space Station when he returns in late 2012.

It is about time - as a grandparent I have watched our kids (who were allowed to fail although I do remember some nagging on our part) learn, I have watched our children now micro-manage their children. A big part of it is the fact that there are predators out there and an extreme reluctance on the parents part to alllow freedom that might result in the children becoming victims.
