TORONTO — A morning news anchor at a Barrie, Ont., radio station says she's got the kind of tiger blood to win Charlie Sheen's contest to find a new assistant.

Undeterred by the TV actor's public rants and penchant for porn stars, Lyndsey Vanstone, 25, says she's ready to pack her bags for Hollywood for the eight-week gig.

"I'm probably spunky enough to do it," Vanstone, who anchors Barrie's B101 newscast, said Monday.

"I can handle the unexpected so I definitely think I can do the job."

But Vanstone isn't the only Canadian vying for the internship.

A whopping 2,832 Canucks were among the 82,000 people from 181 countries who applied to be the "TigerBloodIntern!" a spokeswoman for internships.com said Monday.

And 181 Canadians are among the 3,000 people whose "winning" entries made the first cut and have been asked to submit a video about social media.

The top 50 entries will be submitted to "Team Sheen," who will ultimately pick a winner.

And across Canada the heat is on.

Vanstone is looking for support on her "Help Vanstone Become Charlie Sheen's Intern" Facebook page. After news broke that she was in the running, 300 people rushed to join.

Brad Slater, a morning show producer for Calgary radio station Fan 960, is also on the hunt for the job to help the fired CBS "Two and a Half Men" star leverage his social media network.

On his Twitter page, Slater breathlessly tweeted "Checkout my Charlie Sheen Intern Video..I guess I'm in the final 50!!"

The 28-year-old admits to being a little star struck, saying he's always been fan of Sheen's movies "Platoon" and "Major League" and would jump at the chance to work with him.

"It would be a great chance to help a person that I've always liked rebuild himself and get word out to his fans on where he is what he's doing, even what he's eating and who he's hanging out with," said Slater.

Former Belleville, Ont., native Phil Pallen, 22, who is finishing his masters degree on digital marketing in the entertainment business in Winter Park, Fla., says he wants to "learn from the expert."

Sheen recently set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on Twitter. He now has more than 3.2 million followers.

Pallen's website, tigerbloodphil.com, is headlined "Fast. Fierce. #Winning."

If chosen, Vanstone hopes to parlay the gig into something bigger, such as a TV job.

Sheen is suing his hit sitcom's producers for $100 million for breach of contract after he was fired earlier this month.

After dominating the headlines by saying he's "winning," has "tiger blood" and "Adonis DNA," Sheen signed up to take his show "Charlie Sheen Live: My Violent Torpedo of Truth" on the road.

But if Sheen ever returned to "Two and a Half Men" and his character Charlie Harper hired an intern, well, Vanstone said she'd "definitely" be on board to play that role.

"Personally I don't think he's crazy at all," Vanstone said.

"I think he's really, really smart. I think this is all just part of a rebranding of his image and he's to come back even bigger and better."
