Inmate killed after brawl inside Saskatchewan prison

Nearly 30 inmates brawled inside a Saskatchewan prison, leaving one man dead, according to the institution's deputy warden.
The fight broke out Friday night in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, located on the western edge of Prince Albert.
"The institution has been placed under a general lock-down," Deputy Warden Kathy Neil told CTV News. "An investigation is on-going."
Inmate Courtney Dallas Cook was killed in the violence. He was serving about a two-year sentence for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and failing to comply with a probation order.
"He died as a result of his injuries," said Neil.
Another seven inmates "required immediate medical attention" and were taken to hospital.
There were no staff injuries reported.
The prison is nearly a century old. It has a total of 532 inmates -- 503 of them are housed in medium-security units, and 166 in maximum-security.
The fight that ended in Cook's death took place in a medium-security unit.

I feel that if certain organs were in demand, less effort would be made to revive people. Am I being silly? Not really. I had a bad experience in hospital when my heart stopped, the doctors tried to revive me and failed. They stopped and said I was gone. I came around on my own when the nurse was giving a final BP reading of 'zero'. I heard her declare me dead! It was all I could do to shake my head but they never caught on til I was able to open my eyes. You should have seen them scramble then! I thought the nurse was going to faint. The thing is, I think we may write people off too soon when there is something of value to be gained from them.
